Arizona State’s Star Scorer BJ Freeman Parts Ways with Team Amidst Turbulent Times

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Arizona State’s leading scorer, BJ Freeman, has been dismissed from the basketball program due to conduct deemed detrimental to the team, confirmed a spokesperson on Sunday.
This decision comes after a series of disruptive incidents, including ejections in games against Colorado and Arizona and a suspension during the team’s loss at Oklahoma State on February 9.
Freeman, a 6-foot-6 senior, was averaging 13.7 points over 25 games. His most recent appearance was on Tuesday, where he scored 17 points in an 80-65 defeat to No. 5 Houston.
The Sun Devils currently hold a record of 12-14, with a 3-12 standing in the Big 12, and are facing a six-game losing streak as they prepare for a road matchup against Kansas State.
The Arizona Republic was first to report Freeman’s dismissal.
