Saturday in Paris will be pivotal for the US men’s basketball team, more swimming, and Jade Carey vaulting for gold. Here’s who to watch and when.

PARIS, France — Saturday marks the halfway point of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, with many Arizona Olympians competing this weekend.

Basketball will see action in both 3×3 and 5-on-5 formats, top Arizona gymnasts going for gold, a Valley cyclist racing, golfers chasing medals, and swimmers aiming for the podium.

Here’s a detailed guide for who to watch and when (all times in Arizona time).

3×3 Basketball

  • USA women vs. China, 10:05 a.m. USA: Cierra Burdick, former Phoenix Mercury player.
  • Team USA (3-3) sits fourth in pool play. If they finish in the top six, they move to play-in games at 12:30 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. The top-two teams avoid play-ins; below sixth, they’re eliminated.

5×5 Basketball

  • Puerto Rico women vs. China, 2 a.m. Puerto Rico: Trinity San Antonio, GCU.
  • US men vs. Puerto Rico, 8:15 a.m. USA: Kevin Durant and Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns. Puerto Rico: Jordan Howard, Perry High School.

Men’s Cycling

  • Road Race, 2 a.m. USA: Brandon McNulty, resident of Phoenix.

Men’s Golf

  • Third Round, midnight. Spain: Jon Rahm, ASU, in fourth place (-9) after two rounds. David Puig, ASU, tied for 19th (-4).
  • USA: Wyndham Clark, Scottsdale, stands tied for 49th (+1). Canada: Nick Taylor, Scottsdale, also tied for 49th (+1).

Swimming

  • Women’s 50-meter freestyle. Heats at 2 a.m., semifinals at 11:39 a.m. Azerbaijan: Mariam Sheikhalizedehkhanghah, University of Arizona, Heat 6. Kenya: Maria Brunlehner, Grand Canyon University, Heat 7. Canada: Taylor Ruck, Chaparral High School, Heat 10.
  • Men’s 100-meter butterfly. Final at 11:30 a.m. Canada: Ilya Kharun, Arizona State University, Lane 7.
  • Mixed 4×100-meter Medley Relay. Final at 12:58 p.m. USA: Regan Smith, ASU, Lane 4. Canada: Taylor Ruck, Lane 7.

Note: Sydney Smith, engaged to Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson, will compete in the US women’s soccer quarterfinals against Japan at 6 a.m.

Arizona sports

Phoenix hosts four major league teams: NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, NBA’s Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, and MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Cardinals play at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The Suns and Mercury call the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix home. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers compete at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
