Recreational marijuana home delivery to begin in Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona is set to expand its recreational cannabis program. Beginning Friday, residents aged 21 and older can have cannabis delivered directly to their homes. Previously, this service was exclusively for medical marijuana patients.

The Arizona Department of Health Services announced this change, allowing both dispensaries and third-party delivery services partnered with licensed dispensaries to fulfill orders. This move is part of the state’s ongoing effort to enhance accessibility to cannabis products.

Since the legalization of recreational marijuana sales in 2021, Arizona has seen significant growth in the industry. A ballot initiative approved by voters in 2020 facilitated this landmark change, culminating in over $1 billion in sales in 2023 alone.

Industry leaders, including Ann Torrez, executive director of the Arizona Dispensaries Association, expressed enthusiasm for the delivery initiative. Torrez highlighted that the Department of Health’s proactive stance has expedited the rollout of this new service, offering greater convenience for cannabis consumers across the state.

As Arizona continues to adapt its cannabis regulations, this development marks a significant step towards broader access and modernized consumer options.
