Arizona officials have made significant strides in combating organized crime locally. Recently, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, alongside Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, announced the arrest of four individuals linked to a series of vehicle thefts within Maricopa County.

During a press conference, Lt. Col. Ken Hunter of the Arizona Department of Public Safety stated, “These vehicles were transported into Mexico to support the objectives of transnational criminal organizations. Thanks to our vehicle theft task force detectives, we recovered a total of 22 high-end vehicles valued at approximately 1.4 million dollars.”

County Attorney Mitchell emphasized her office’s zero-tolerance policy toward criminal enterprises that harm the community. “We are committed to pursuing justice and holding those who engage in organized crime accountable for their actions,” she asserted, thanking law enforcement partners for their contributions.

The investigation revealed that the stolen vehicles were taken from the Phoenix metropolitan area and transported to the U.S.-Mexico border. Each indictment includes a series of felony charges related to the illegal transport of vehicles, as outlined by the grand jury.

Mitchell, a proactive figure in her role as Maricopa County’s prosecutor, has focused on curtailing organized retail theft rings. Following a successful general election, she reaffirmed her commitment to public safety, stating, “I will continue to fight against efforts that would allow Maricopa County to become another Los Angeles, where crime is rampant. I will work closely with our dedicated law enforcement partners to address the challenges ahead.”
