Arizona Man Sentenced to Prison for Involvement in Shocking Sex Abuse Ring

PHOENIX — Torrance Bistline, 36, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy tied to Samuel Bateman, the leader of a religious sect. This sentencing follows Bistline’s conviction on multiple charges involving the abuse of at least 10 children, as confirmed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Arizona.
Between 2020 and 2021, followers of Bateman began handing over their minor daughters as “brides” to him. Prosecutors indicated that Bistline provided financial support for what was labeled a “child sex abuse ring” and actively worked to destroy evidence pertinent to the ongoing investigation.
Another associate of Bateman was sentenced to life in prison for similar offenses. Bateman himself received a 50-year prison term last December.
Victims have publicly expressed their grievances during sentencing hearings, aiming to hold their abuser accountable for the immense harm caused.
