Arizona House Democrats are entering a new term with a streamlined caucus and fresh leadership. On Tuesday, the Democratic members elected a new leadership team for the upcoming two years.

Representative De Los Santos has been appointed as the House Minority Leader, with Representative Nancy Gutierrez stepping in as the House Minority Assistant Leader. Additionally, Representatives Quantá Crews and Stacey Travers will serve as House Minority co-Whips.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead this outstanding caucus,” De Los Santos stated. He emphasized the team’s commitment to fighting for public education, resources, and community interests amid significant challenges ahead. “We will not back down from extremism, and we will face them together,” he assured constituents.

Travers expressed gratitude for her new role, thanking the AZ LD 12 Democrats for their efforts in helping secure their re-elections. Her acknowledgment highlights the collaborative spirit within the caucus.

This leadership team is perceived as one of the most progressive in the Arizona House. Notably, De Los Santos, Gutierrez, and Crews maintain a 0% Lifetime score from the Arizona Free Enterprise Club, while Travers holds a score of 2%. This signals a definitive ideological direction as the caucus prepares for the legislative challenges ahead.
