Suspect in Arizona double homicide shot, killed in Missouri, police say

TAYLOR, Arizona — A tragic shooting incident has claimed the lives of two individuals at a residence in Taylor, Arizona. The victims, identified as Cynthia Templeton, 53, and Troy Templeton, 62, were found with apparent gunshot wounds on June 15.

The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department responded to the scene after a call for a welfare check initiated by Cynthia Templeton’s ex-husband. He had come to return their children and became concerned, prompting him to contact authorities.

Authorities have named Francis Chavez, Cynthia Templeton’s son, as a suspect in the shooting. Following the incident, a nationwide alert was issued for his arrest.

Chavez reportedly fled to Missouri, where he was spotted by Missouri State Highway Patrol officers. On June 17, a pursuit occurred in Concordia, Missouri, but police lost track of him initially. Later that evening, they discovered his motorcycle, leading to another chase.

The situation escalated when Chavez crashed into a trooper’s vehicle and fled on foot. As troopers pursued him, he allegedly fired a gun at one officer, striking him in the bullet-resistant vest. Officers returned fire, resulting in Chavez being shot and killed at the scene.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information emerges.
