Arizona Countdown: Don’t Miss Monday’s Voter Registration Deadline!

By Staff Reporter |
Upcoming elections in Arizona are prompting residents to verify their voter registration status. The crucial deadline for registration is October 7, with options to register in person at local election offices, online, or via mail. Ensuring your registration is accurate is vital for participating in the upcoming elections on November 5.
Arizonans can register online if they possess a valid driver’s license or state ID. For those wishing to vote on a full ballot—beyond federal elections—proof of citizenship must accompany the voter registration by the Thursday before Election Day, which falls on Halloween this year. Acceptable documents include a state-issued ID, passport, birth certificate, or a tribal ID.
Residents can submit their voter registration forms at county recorder’s offices. Alternatively, mail-in registration is available by downloading the form or requesting a copy through your county recorder. Expect voter registration cards to arrive by mail within 4 to 6 weeks.
Key absentee ballot deadlines are approaching: requests must be made by 5 pm MST on October 25, and completed ballots must be returned by 7 pm MST on November 5. The final date to post ballots is October 29.
Early voting opens on October 9, coinciding with the distribution of ballots and availability of drop boxes for mail-in votes. Voters are reminded to present proof of identity when voting in person. Acceptable forms include valid state IDs or two documents proving residence, such as a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 90 days.
Notably, voters from federally recognized tribes can cast provisional ballots without needing an address or photo on their tribal ID.
Military and overseas voters received their ballots on September 21. They can access a designated portal to register and request ballots, with completed ballots accepted via fax until the Election Day deadline of 7 pm MST.
The Arizona Voter Information Portal provides valuable resources for voters, allowing them to check registration status, find polling locations, and manage mail-in ballots.
For tracking ballots, 13 of Arizona’s 15 counties utilize Ballot Trax, while Maricopa and Pima counties offer their own tracking services.
If a mail-in ballot is lost or damaged, residents can request a replacement either by mail or in person. When opting for mail, the request must be made 11 days before Election Day.
Residents with further inquiries can contact their county recorder or the secretary of state’s office for assistance.
