Nest protected: Arizona Cardinals beat Chicago Bears 29-9 for 3rd straight win

Emari Demercado’s impressive 53-yard touchdown run just before halftime propelled the Arizona Cardinals to a commanding 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, marking their third consecutive win—the first such streak for Arizona in three years.

Demercado’s explosive play, which occurred with only four seconds left in the half, came after a drive sparked by a Chicago field goal. The Cardinals ended the half with a significant 21-9 lead, transforming a close game into a more comfortable margin.

James Conner contributed significantly to the win, amassing 107 rushing yards. In contrast, the Bears, now at 4-4, suffered their second straight defeat following a tight loss to the Commanders last week.

Chicago rookie quarterback Caleb Williams faced immense pressure, getting sacked six times and completing only 22 of 41 passes for 216 yards. The Bears totaled just 241 offensive yards throughout the game, a stark contrast to Arizona’s performance.

Arizona’s control over the game deepened in the second half with Chad Ryland kicking two field goals, one from an impressive 55 yards. Linebacker Zaven Collins was instrumental defensively, recording two of the team’s six sacks.

Quarterback Kyler Murray had a solid outing, completing 13 of 20 passes for 154 yards, while the Cardinals first took the lead late in the first quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run from tight end Trey McBride.

Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who missed the starting position due to a previous mental error, eventually participated in the game. His lapse last week allowed a Hail Mary play that cost the Bears the game.

In terms of injuries, the Bears were missing key players such as DL Montez Sweat and DB Kyler Gordon. The Cardinals also faced some absences, including CB Sean Murphy-Bunting and DL Darius Robinson.

Looking ahead, the Bears will host New England on Sunday, while the Cardinals will welcome the New York Jets.
