After getting hundreds of random 'get well' text messages, an Arizona boy was shocked to find out who his number used to belong to

PHOENIX — In an unexpected twist, a 12-year-old boy from the Valley is receiving an influx of text messages intended for an NFL player.

Lincoln Shreck, recently equipped with his first phone, initially assumed that the messages were just a mix-up linked to a previous owner’s number. However, the barrage of messages intensified over the weekend when he began receiving numerous inquiries expressing concern for an NFL player named Ricky Pearsall.

Pearsall, currently a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, was recently shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco. This incident occurred just days before his anticipated debut in the NFL.

According to Shreck, “I was responding ‘wrong number’ to as many as I could, but then one person replied, saying it belonged to an NFL player.” Intrigued, he learned the messages were meant for Pearsall, prompting a mix of shock and confusion.

The supportive messages flooding Shreck’s phone mostly contain well-wishes, like one that read, “Hey Ricky, I know you probably have a new number. Praying for you tonight.” He estimates he received hundreds of such texts, overflowing with compassion for the injured player.

Despite not being a football fan or familiar with Pearsall prior to this, Shreck has developed a sense of empathy for him. “I mainly hope that this just gets to Ricky,” Shreck expressed, emphasizing the importance of knowing that people care about him during his difficult time.

In a heartfelt gesture, Shreck hopes to bridge the connection by passing along the warm messages of support that are meant for Pearsall. “Really glad you’re okay, kid. God bless you. We love you,” he shared from a message intended for the wide receiver.
