<p>PARIS, France — Saturday marked the halfway point of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and numerous Arizona Olympians showcased their talents this weekend.</p>
<p>From the basketball courts to the swimming pools, Arizona athletes made their mark. Here’s a rundown of their performances:</p>
<p><b>3x3 Basketball</b></p>
<p>The USA women’s team narrowly defeated China with a 14-12 victory. Former Phoenix Mercury player Cierra Burdick contributed with one point and three rebounds. Team USA aims to advance depending on their pool play results.</p>
<p><b>5x5 Basketball</b></p>
<p>Trinity San Antonio of Grand Canyon University, playing for Puerto Rico, saw her team eliminated after a loss to China, 58-80. Conversely, the USA men's team triumphed over Puerto Rico, 104-83, securing a spot in the semifinals. Kevin Durant's 11 points brought him closer to the all-time Olympic scoring record.</p>
<p><b>Men's Cycling</b></p>
<p>Phoenix resident Brandon McNulty finished 24th in the road race, not securing a medal.</p>
<p><b>Men's Golf</b></p>
<p>ASU alumni Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele were tied for the lead, one shot ahead of Tommy Fleetwood. They ended Saturday at 14-under 199, matching the 54-hole Olympic record.</p>
<p><b>Swimming</b></p>
<p>University of Arizona's Mariam Sheikhalizadehkhanghah and GCU's Maria Brunlehner both secured third places in their respective 50-meter freestyle heats. ASU's Ilya Kharun won bronze in the 100-meter butterfly representing Canada.</p>
<p><b>Mixed 4x100-meter Medley Relay</b></p>
<p>Notable participants include Regan Smith of ASU and Taylor Ruck, adding to the excitement of the medley relay final.</p>
<p><b>Additional Highlights</b></p>
<p>Sydney Smith, engaged to NFL's Michael Wilson, helped the US women’s soccer team advance to the semifinals with a 1-0 win over Japan.</p>
