Another Self-Storage Developer Sets Sights on Maricopa Market

A California developer is exploring opportunities in Maricopa’s self-storage market. Randy Benson, representing Black Canyon Self Storage, reached out to local officials regarding potential developments in the area.
Black Canyon, part of Arena Development Group, has a notable presence in Arizona. The firm is currently constructing a 100,000-square-foot facility near Interstate 17 and Camelback Road in Phoenix, adjacent to Grand Canyon University. Benson is particularly interested in the growth in Maricopa and where additional storage facilities might fit in.
In his inquiry, Benson seeks details on self-storage projects that are either in the planning phase or have recently been approved. Earlier this month, InMaricopa reported on an 8-acre self-storage proposal.
Benson noted, “We have seen the residential growth in Maricopa plus the projects planned and have an interest in looking at self-storage opportunities in Maricopa.” Currently, residents have access to several storage options:
- Extra Space Storage, 20215 N. John Wayne Parkway
- Maricopa Self Storage Solutions, 20125 N. John Wayne Parkway
- Public Storage, 18000 N. Stonegate Road
- Public Storage, 40675 W. Honeycutt Road
Efforts to reach Benson for further comment were unsuccessful. As the landscape of Maricopa continues to evolve, it remains to be seen if any new storage facilities will soon make their debut.
