Another Exciting Week of High School Football: Catch the Highlights from Friday Night Fever Week 5!
PHOENIX — In a decisive match during the 5th Annual Holy Bowl, Brophy (5-0) handed Notre Dame Prep (4-1) their first loss of the season with a resounding 40-0 victory. This week marked a pivotal point as the 35th season of Friday Night Fever, Arizona’s premier high school football show, reaches its midpoint.
The highlights of Week 5 showcased several exciting matchups. ALA-Queen Creek (5-0) continued their unbeaten streak with a 34-19 win over Pinnacle (3-2). Despite a valiant effort from Pinnacle, who attempted a comeback from 28-6 down, they ultimately fell short.
Higley (4-1) dealt Cactus Shadows (4-1) their first loss, finishing the game 36-28. Meanwhile, in a nail-biting finish, Corona Del Sol (1-4) edged out Saguaro (0-5) with a score of 38-36.
Highland (5-0) achieved a significant victory by handing Chandler (4-1) their first defeat this season. The Peoria Panthers (1-4) faced tough competition against Cactus Cobras (3-2), ultimately losing 35-14 after a tightly contested first half.
McClintock (5-0) made headlines with a commanding 40-14 victory over Cienega (2-3), marking their best start since 2003. Jaxon Knutson shined, throwing four touchdowns to elevate his season total to an impressive 25.
Northwest Christian (4-1) secured a narrow 16-7 victory against Eastmark (2-3), while Thunderbird (5-0) maintained their perfect record with a shutout against Greenway (1-3), winning 42-0.
In another lopsided contest, Moon Valley (2-2) dominated Alhambra (0-4) with a decisive 46-6 victory, largely thanks to Christian Vazquez’s two interceptions. Phoenix Christian (5-1) had an outstanding performance against Highland Prep (4-2), scoring 67-0.
Celebrations were in order for Coronado (1-5) after Head Coach received recognition as Cardinals Coach of the Week for breaking a 30-game losing streak last week, though they faced a strong Scottsdale Christian (2-3) and lost 56-0.
Snowflake (4-0) took control in the second half to win 30-17 over Gilbert (1-4), highlighted by an incredible 75-yard touchdown run by Jacob Leduke. Elsewhere, the Raymond S. Kellis Cougars improved to 4-1 with a convincing 42-3 win against Browne.
As the excitement continues, fans eagerly await the Sweet Plays of the Week nominees. Each week, three standout plays will be chosen for public voting, culminating in a chance for the player with the winning play to earn a $5,000 scholarship.
