Amish Shah Calls Out Tax Cuts, Capitalism, and Reagan in Shocking Unearthed Footage

By Matthew Holloway |
Democratic Congressional candidate Amish Shah has come under scrutiny following the emergence of a 2018 video in which he criticizes former President Ronald Reagan and capitalism as a whole. Shah asserts, “What we’ve got is an economic system here that isn’t fair,” pointing to tax cuts for the wealthy during the Reagan administration as pivotal in creating social inequality.
In the video, Shah offers a stark critique of Reagan-era policies, claiming they have led to systemic economic injustices. He states, “We’re institutionalizing inequality… What we’ve got is an economic system here that isn’t fair.” Shah outlines a vision grounded in socialist principles, advocating for reforms in healthcare and education to combat inequality.
His comments extend to the idea that lack of access to quality healthcare and education results in long-term disadvantages for children. Shah warns against what he describes as a “school to prison pipeline,” labeling it a morally objectionable outcome of current societal structures. He expresses support for the progressive movement within the Democratic Party, emphasizing the need for change.
Recently, during a debate, Shah reiterated his views on class warfare, declaring opposition to extending the Trump tax cuts, which he argued primarily benefited the wealthy. His statements prompted a strong backlash from the National Republican Congressional Committee. Spokesperson Ben Petersen described Shah’s intentions as a “declaration of war on Arizonans’ livelihoods,” characterizing his socialist positions as disqualifying for the congressional race.
Shah’s history of radical socialist views has ignited controversy, particularly his endorsement of single-payer healthcare systems linked to Senator Bernie Sanders. Adding to his challenges, he faced legal issues regarding the use of election mailers that violated city regulations in Tempe and allegations of voter registration discrepancies regarding his primary residence.
As the election campaign progresses, Shah’s positions continue to attract attention, reflecting a broader debate on economic policy and social equity within the Democratic Party in Arizona.
