Ladrones armados roban autos y asaltan a residentes al Oeste del Valle

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Residents are on high alert following a spate of vehicle thefts and assaults in a single night. The Avondale police reported that they received 13 calls about these incidents within a short timeframe from Sunday to Monday.

Home surveillance footage highlights the chaos. In one clip, a group of four masked individuals laugh as they remove a suspect from a Hyundai that they had entered unlawfully.

The vehicle’s owner, wishing to remain anonymous, stated that personal items were taken and that the ignition lock was damaged during the attempted theft.

Another resident recounted a harrowing experience: upon waking, they discovered their Hyundai had vanished. In addition, a neighbor’s concrete wall showed signs of damage, suggesting a collision. The police later located the stolen car at a nearby gas station, noting that it had rear-end damage, likely from crashing into the wall.

Further concerning is a video captured near Avondale Boulevard and Buckeye Road. It depicts the same group attempting to enter homes, with one suspect brandishing a firearm directly in front of the camera.

Authorities noted that the majority of targeted vehicles were either Hyundai or Kia models. They recovered multiple stolen vehicles, including a Hyundai and a Kia that were involved in hit-and-run incidents. Five reported incidents involved vehicles that were left unlocked.

The Avondale police are actively investigating these events to determine any connections between them, urging residents to secure their doors and remain vigilant.

Residents like Octavio Loera are taking these warnings seriously, emphasizing the importance of being cautious at night for their own safety and that of their families.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, illustrating the need for heightened awareness of potential threats in the area.
