Alcohol Fuels 2 Arrests in Shocking Incident

Alcohol has been linked to two recent arrests in Maricopa, revealing serious incidents stemming from intoxication.
Mark A. Brown, 68, was arrested Thursday evening for creating a loud disturbance inside a local Walmart. Reports indicate that Brown became aggressive after a cashier refused to sell him alcohol due to his intoxication.
While officers were already present at the store for another matter, they observed Brown yelling profanities and verbally assaulting the employee. After failing to cooperate, he was ordered to the ground and taken into custody.
The cashier, a 25-year-old woman, stated that Brown continued his tirade even as officers struggled to control the situation. He was charged with disorderly conduct and faces a potential sentence of over a year in jail.
In a separate incident over the weekend, Veronica Mapp, 40, was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly running over her fiancé’s foot while attempting to drive intoxicated. Officers responded to a welfare check on Crane Drive involving a suspected impaired driver.
The victim reported that Mapp, upon returning home, attempted to leave again and inadvertently ran over his foot. Officers noted visible injuries to his toes.
Surveillance footage captured Mapp not only driving into the garage but also pushing her fiancé as he tried to prevent her from leaving. Mapp admitted to consuming three alcoholic beverages earlier that evening. Despite her claims that the foot injury was unintentional, she faces charges of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, DUI, and disorderly conduct.
Mapp was taken to Exceptional Community Hospital for a blood draw and later booked at the Pinal County jail. Conviction on the aggravated assault charge could lead to a mandatory minimum two-year prison sentence.
