Active weather this week

This week, Arizona will experience varied wintry weather conditions.

PHOENIX — The state continues to see unseasonably warm and windy weather on this Sunday. Lower desert regions can expect high temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to the 80s, while the High Country is likely to experience highs in the 50s and 60s. Partly cloudy skies will dominate the scene.

Wind conditions are expected to be milder compared to Saturday, but gusts in the Valley may still reach 20 mph from the south. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for areas in western and northern Arizona, including Prescott, Williams, Kingman, Lake Havasu City, and Flagstaff, until 11 p.m. Sunday. Southwest winds could intensify to 45-50 mph, potentially complicating travel, especially during the afternoon and evening.

A shift in weather is on the horizon for Monday, as a system approaches from the north. This will likely bring isolated showers and even mountain snow, along with a chance of rain for parts of the Valley in the afternoon. Consequently, temperatures will take a noticeable dip; highs in the Valley are projected to reach only the lower to middle 60s, while the High Country may linger in the 30s.

Looking ahead, an active weather pattern will unfold later this week, promising more rain. Despite this, lower desert communities should still see temperatures in the 60s and 70s throughout the week.
