Alex Just Soars in Stand-Up Comedy with Clean Humor
Comedian Alex Just has achieved a remarkable feat by performing in all 50 states and over a dozen foreign countries. He garnered significant attention for pioneering the concept of Drive-In Comedy in Alaska early in the pandemic, covered by major news networks.
Alex Just is set to bring his clean comedy shows to Tucson in mid-July. The performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at Coyotes Trail Elementary School in Marana, and 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at the Vail Theatre of the Arts. These events are presented by Clean Comedy in Tucson.
Just promises a family-friendly atmosphere akin to “The Dry Bar” podcast level of clean. “It’s going to be a ‘clean’ comedy show,” he explained. “I say ‘PG-13,’ but it’s a bit cleaner than that implies. I’m not cursing. It’s basically like The Dry Bar podcast level of clean.”
Beyond comedy, he has served as an emcee and public speaker. Holding a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Just is a former Agile consultant who has trained thousands globally and led Agile transformations for organizations like The British Royal Navy and Lixil.
Just attributes his clean comedy career to his work in corporate and private gigs. “Either you’re TikTok famous or clean enough to get the higher-value shows, where they pay you to be clean,” he said. “It’s harder to write clean. You have to put a little more effort into being funny. I like it. I’m thriving that way.”
Despite the challenges, Just acknowledges his passion for comedy. “I am blatantly ignoring my earning potential, however. I’m addicted to it and I’m sticking to it. I actually tell that joke on stage. This isn’t a mid-life crisis. It’s a plan — a stupid plan,” he humorously noted.
