Deadly Shooting at Phoenix Construction Site Leaves One Man Dead and Another in Critical Condition as Suspect Remains at Large
PHOENIX — A shooting incident in central Phoenix has left one man dead and another critically injured. The police are actively seeking assistance in locating the suspect, who remains at large.
Authorities were alerted around 8 a.m. on Sunday about gunfire near 40th Street and Thomas Road. Upon arrival, officers were directed by witnesses to two men who had sustained gunshot wounds.
The deceased was identified as 48-year-old Alan David Whitworth, who was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim, a 19-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
Initial investigations suggest that the victims were engaged in a construction project when an altercation erupted with the shooter. According to police, the suspect fired multiple shots, hitting both men, and continued shooting as they lay on the ground.
Police have intensified their search for the suspect but have not yet apprehended anyone.
