Suspect pleads not guilty as police release new info in drive-by shooting

A 21-year-old Lake Havasu City resident, Seth M. Duda, has pleaded not guilty during his arraignment this week in Mohave Superior Court. He faces multiple felony charges, including drive-by shooting and discharging a firearm at a residence. Currently, Duda remains in custody at the Mohave County Jail on a $150,000 bond, with a hearing scheduled Friday to potentially reduce the bond amount.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department released additional details surrounding the incident, which occurred on August 10 at approximately 1:50 a.m. At that time, several residents reported gunfire directed at a house on Spirit Lane. Witnesses indicated the shots came from a vehicle during a large party taking place nearby.

Upon arrival, officers found a chaotic scene with numerous young adults shouting outside the targeted residence. As the investigation continued, officers noted several bullet holes in the home’s exterior. The evidence collected included bullet fragments and shell casings, confirmed to be from .22-caliber ammunition.

According to the homeowner, a modest gathering of about 15 guests escalated when a larger group arrived, behaving aggressively. After the homeowner asked the new arrivals to leave, the situation took a violent turn when Duda’s vehicle purportedly returned, leading to the shooting.

Witnesses reported that Duda had previously been at another party on the same night before appearing at the victim’s home. One witness, who had left the earlier location due to Duda’s presence, tracked his phone to a spot nearby just before the shooting began.

Another witness corroborated Duda’s involvement, noting disturbances caused by him and others before being asked to leave the gathering. They identified a vehicle linked to Duda or his associates that returned shortly before shots were fired, although they could not confirm Duda’s direct role at that moment.

Following the incident, officers attempted to reach Duda by phone. He allegedly denied any participation in the shooting. Later that morning, he was taken into custody for further questioning; however, police reports did not clarify the outcomes of that interrogation or whether any firearms were recovered as evidence.
