Desert Foothills Land Trust continues August Match Challenge

Board and Committee Members Commit $40,000 in Matching Contributions

Cave Creek, Carefree, and Scottsdale—The North Valley Desert Foothills Land Trust (DFLT) has announced the start of its August Match Challenge, a fundraising initiative aimed at enhancing educational programs, increasing outreach efforts, and preserving additional acres of desert landscapes. This campaign seeks to bolster the stewardship of DFLT’s existing 1,100 acres across 29 protected preserves.

Throughout August, the organization will match every contribution made, up to $40,000, thanks to the commitment of its Board and Committee members. This matching opportunity allows community members to maximize their contributions in the effort to safeguard the Sonoran Desert’s unique ecosystem.

Vicki Preston, President & CEO of Desert Foothills Land Trust, emphasized the importance of participation. “This August Match Challenge is a testament to our commitment to conservation and community engagement,” she remarked. “Every donation, no matter the size, will have twice the impact in safeguarding sensitive lands, preserving mountain views, protecting archaeological sites, and supporting native species.”

Since its inception in 1991, DFLT has played a crucial role in local conservation, having preserved nearly 1,100 acres of desert landscape. The funds generated through this challenge will strengthen ongoing conservation and expand community outreach and educational offerings.

To participate in the August Match Challenge, donations are accepted online at dflt.org/give-today or via checks sent to DFLT, P.O. Box 4861, Cave Creek, AZ 85327. The challenge will run until August 31, 2024.
