BNSF stays tight-lipped on incident near I-40 south of Kingman

A mysterious incident involving the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF) unfolded late Tuesday night, approximately 10 miles south of Kingman, near Interstate 40 and W. Griffith Road. Authorities remain tight-lipped, leaving the details shrouded in uncertainty.

Amid circulating rumors on social media about a possible train robbery, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed their response at about 11:39 p.m. for an agency assist. Anita Mortensen of the sheriff’s office stated that any further information would need to come from BNSF Police, the primary agency in charge.

In a related comment, Bart Graves from the Arizona Department of Public Safety noted that their involvement was limited to assistance. He also directed inquiries to BNSF, which has not provided any clarification on the rumors.

Attempts to gather information from BNSF representatives were met with silence. Kendall Sloan, BNSF’s Director of External Communications, stated, “We can’t comment on specific cases,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to security without confirming any specifics related to the incident.

Notably, Sloan’s statement referenced an “organized crime network,” although it remains unclear if such a network pertains to the events in question. The ambiguity continues to leave the public questioning the nature of the incident.

The Kingman Miner has submitted a records request to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for call logs related to the incident; however, this report is still pending release. According to BNSF’s website, their police force holds law enforcement authority granted by both local and federal governments, which further underscores the significance of the situation.
