Scottsdale PD Hunts School PTA Treasurer in Vanishing Funds Mystery
The suspect had recently been elected treasurer of the Cocopah Middle School PTA before the alleged theft was discovered.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale police are on the lookout for a woman accused of embezzling $36,500 from the Cocopah Middle School PTA.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nubia Gonzalez, who assumed the role of treasurer in April and subsequently gained access to the PTA’s bank accounts during the summer.
In early July, the PTA’s president detected an alarming zero balance in the organization’s savings accounts. Investigations revealed that numerous withdrawals were executed between June 28 and July 1.
Further complicating the case, Gonzalez has been uncontactable, and the address she provided to the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) has been deemed “fraudulent.”
Anyone with information on Gonzalez’s whereabouts is urged to contact Scottsdale police at 480-312-TIPS.
