Did the US win the men's basketball semifinal against Serbia?

PARIS, France — In an extraordinary turn of events, the U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team executed a stunning comeback against Serbia, clinching a spot in the Olympic gold medal game.

With just two seconds to spare in the fourth quarter, the U.S. managed to score six points in a dramatic sequence. This rapid turn of events significantly shifted the game’s trajectory.

Stephen Curry was instrumental, scoring 36 points. His clutch 3-pointer with 2:16 remaining ensured the U.S. team moved ahead. Despite trailing by 17 points in the first half and facing an 11-point deficit at halftime, the U.S persevered, marking the biggest comeback since NBA players joined the Olympic rosters in 1992.

Serbia held a strong 11-point lead with 7:19 left on the clock. However, the U.S. team dominated the remaining minutes. The pivotal moment arrived when Kevin Durant hit a 3-pointer while Anthony Davis was fouled, setting up another possession. Devin Booker capitalized on this with another successful 3-pointer.

This rapid-fire action reduced Serbia’s lead from 78-67 to 78-73, igniting the U.S. comeback. Curry later secured the lead permanently with another 3-pointer and sealed the game with two free throws, finalizing the score at 95-91.

The U.S. will face host France in the gold medal game on Saturday night, while Serbia will compete against Germany for the bronze.
