48th Street I-10 Ramp Closure to Extend Through Late 2024
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced an extended closure of the 48th Street ramp on Interstate 10, starting August 9.
PHOENIX — Commuters in the East Valley should prepare for significant changes on Interstate 10. On Friday, August 9, the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at 48th Street will close at 10 p.m. for ramp reconfiguration. This closure is anticipated to last until late 2024, according to ADOT.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, specifically the eastbound I-10 off-ramps at Broadway or Baseline roads. Furthermore, northbound 48th Street will close between Broadway Road and I-10 at 8 p.m. on the same day for pavement reconstruction. This segment is expected to reopen by September.
In addition, southbound 48th Street will close between I-10 and Broadway Road from 8 p.m. on August 9 until 4 a.m. on August 12.
Here are the suggested detour routes:
For northbound 48th Street:
From 10 p.m. August 9 to 4 a.m. August 12, use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street, then to eastbound University Drive to access northbound State Route 143.
From 4 a.m. August 12, use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street to eastbound I-10 and exit at Broadway to access 48th Street north of the closure.
For southbound 48th Street:
Use westbound I-10 to southbound 32nd Street, then eastbound Broadway Road to reach 48th Street south of the closure.
Motorists are urged to stay alert, reduce speed, and merge safely when approaching work zones.
