Goodyear’s Elite Special Assignment Unit Returns to Action Following City Compensation Deal
The unit had been inactive since Friday, but was still employed by the city and continuing with their regular duties.
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Goodyear Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit, also known as the SWAT team, resumed operations after reaching a compensation agreement with city officials, as announced Monday night.
“We are pleased to share that the Goodyear Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit (SAU) is back in service after a brief pause to address a compensation issue,” a department press release stated. “Through communication and collaborative efforts with leadership, the SAU members have returned to their SAU duties as work continues to address their compensation concerns. Public safety was never compromised during this period.”
The unit went inactive on Friday due to ongoing compensation negotiations but remained employed by the department, performing their regular duties according to city officials. Officials assured that the temporary inactivity did not affect overall city safety, thanks to support agreements with neighboring agencies.
