Walsh and Finke were some of Team USA’s last hope for more swimming medals.
NANTERRE, France — Bobby Finke reignited hope for the U.S. men’s swim team by securing an Olympic gold medal in the men’s 1500-meter freestyle.
On the final night of swimming events, Finke not only clinched the gold but also set a new world record, marking a triumphant end to a challenging campaign for the U.S. swim team.
In contrast, Team USA’s Gretchen Walsh narrowly missed a bronze in the women’s 50 meter freestyle, adding to her previous silver medals in the 100-meter butterfly and the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
