Impairment Suspected in Deadly Avondale Crash, Police Report

The crash occurred early Sunday morning near Dysart and Thomas roads, police say.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A fatal crash in Avondale early Sunday morning resulted in two deaths and left two others injured, according to the Avondale Police Department.

Authorities reported that the incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Dysart and Thomas roads. A vehicle traveling north ran a red light and collided with another vehicle making a left turn.

One passenger in the first car was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second passenger who was taken to the hospital later succumbed to their injuries. The driver and another passenger from the first vehicle, along with the driver and a passenger from the second vehicle, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Investigators believe impairment may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.
