The Maricopa Police Department has introduced a pair of K9 vehicles featuring innovative “ghost graphics.” These unique designs remain subtle during the day but become highly visible at night, enhancing operational effectiveness.

Equipped on blacked-out Chevy Tahoes, this new branding is not just for aesthetics; it serves a crucial tactical purpose. According to department spokesperson Monica Williams, the wraps are tailored exclusively for the K9 unit and were implemented at the same cost as traditional insignia seen on other squad cars.

“This design strikes a balance between necessary identification and stealth,” Williams explained. “It allows officers to monitor traffic and various situations without drawing immediate attention, which ultimately increases their safety.” This strategy mirrors the department’s approach with unmarked vehicles used by traffic units to catch speeders and reckless drivers off guard.
