Mesa dentist arrested after FBI review explicit Discord messages

MESA, Ariz. — Federal charges have been leveled against 32-year-old dentist Jonathan Lane Sanders as the FBI investigates disturbing interactions on Discord. An alarming pattern of explicit exchanges with underage girls across various states has emerged, according to court records.

Sanders was apprehended on June 12 and subsequently pleaded “not guilty” to the charges on June 26. His Discord account reportedly engaged in over 1,800 messages with one user who identified as a 15-year-old, along with countless others appearing to belong to minors.

The inquiry initiated when a concerned parent in Connecticut alerted law enforcement, having found that their 15-year-old was corresponding with an older male online. Investigators uncovered that Sanders’ account consistently presented itself as a 31-year-old dentist from Arizona, connecting it to two IP addresses linked to him personally and his dental office.

In scrutinizing the messages exchanged between October 2024 and March 2025, agents identified highly graphic sexual content. Disturbingly, interactions included solicitation for a romantic relationship with another user claiming to be a 13-year-old girl, culminating in a troubling statement about wanting to “cuddle.”

The investigation also uncovered multiple instances of Sanders’ account transmitting explicit images to minors. Among the evidence, a photo resembling Sanders seated in a dental office was found.

Authorities continue to assess the implications of these disturbing revelations. When approached for comment, the staff at Caffall Dental Care, where Sanders was employed, declined to provide any statements regarding the ongoing case.

As this situation unfolds, questions about online safety and the responsibility of platforms like Discord are gaining renewed attention.
