Arizonans Rally for ‘No Kings’ Protests Statewide Amid Trump’s Military Surge in LA

As President Trump orders the U.S. military to Los Angeles to confront protesters, Arizonans are gearing up for significant pro-democracy rallies this Saturday. An unprecedented parade featuring over 100 military vehicles is also set to occur in the nation’s capital, adding to the tension.
Arizona will host at least 40 “No Kings” protests statewide, covering areas from Yuma to Page and Douglas. The Phoenix metro area alone will feature 15 events, alongside five rallies in Tucson and neighboring communities.
The primary gathering is scheduled for the state Capitol at 9 a.m., with most events planned for the morning to avoid the intense afternoon heat.
Nationwide, over 2,000 rallies are anticipated, with organizers estimating millions will participate to oppose the Trump administration and advocate for the principles of American democracy. “These protests arise from the President’s military actions in our cities and a federal agenda that endangers health care for millions,” stated the No Kings organization. They emphasized, “We have no kings, and a president cannot silence peaceful dissent.”
The No Kings coalition condemned the escalation of military force, declaring, “This government aims to rule by violence, not service. From cities to rural areas, we stand united against political oppression and fear-driven governance.”
Participating groups include Indivisible, the American Federation of Teachers, ACLU, and more than 100 additional organizations. “We are witnessing damaging effects on our communities, with local workers losing jobs and veterans anxious about their benefits. We refuse to accept this,” remarked Susan Shapiro, director of Indivisible Northern AZ, regarding the rally in Flagstaff planned for Saturday afternoon.
Previous anti-Trump protests, such as the Hands Off! and 50501 events, also highlighted widespread discontent earlier this year.
