Tucson author Lydia Millet is 'Singing with Saguaros' at Desert Museum reading

Saturday at 6 p.m., Lydia Millet will host “Singing with Saguaros” at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

Millet, a fiction author and deputy creative director at the Center for Biological Diversity, will be reading from her first non-fiction title, “We Loved It All.” The book delves into personal experiences of living amid climate change.

Alongside Millet, botanist Emmanuel Bernal will discuss raising children to appreciate and love plants.

“The event is about inspiring folks to conserve the natural world, in particular the desert we live in and its beautiful saguaros,” Millet said.

“My newest book also explores this theme—how people often feel a deep love for the creatures and plants they evolved with, even if they don’t always recognize it,” Millet added. “It’s about our duty of care to the natural world and our duty of care to our children, and how these responsibilities are necessarily entwined.”
