The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona reported that 310 individuals were charged with immigration-related offenses between May 10 and May 16. This initiative aimed to combat illegal immigration and associated criminal activities.

Among the charges, 125 involved illegal reentry into the United States, while 170 pertained to illegal entry. Additionally, 15 individuals faced human smuggling charges for allegedly transporting undocumented immigrants within Arizona.

This enforcement effort relied on multiple federal agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Border Patrol, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), among others. Their collaboration underscores a united front against illegal immigration.

The charges stem from Operation Take Back America, part of a broader Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal immigration and transnational crime. The operation utilizes resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).

Officials describe this operation as an essential move to curb illegal immigration and dismantle criminal organizations. However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office did not specify how many of those charged are currently in custody or the schedule for court appearances. Further legal proceedings will take place in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
