VSVV Hosts Exciting Volunteer Expo: A City-Wide Call to Action!

The Volunteer Sedona & the Verde Valley nonprofit, alongside the city of Sedona’s Sustainability Department, will host a Volunteer Expo recruitment event on May 14th, from 1 to 4 p.m. The venue will be the Hub at Posse Grounds Park, and attendance is free. This event aims to link Sedona and Verde Valley residents with 37 local organizations seeking volunteers.
“This will be a meet-and-greet focused on presentations from participants that highlight their missions and specific volunteer needs,” said Spring Graf, Executive Director of VSVV. The goal is to build a stable base of ongoing volunteers for local organizations, minimizing the need for constant recruitment. Attendees will have the chance to engage directly with organizations and learn about their missions through personal interactions.
The event intends to connect residents interested in volunteering with nonprofits that require assistance, providing crucial networking opportunities for local organizations.
Additional organizations involved include ECO Farms, Gardens for Humanity, Humane Society of Sedona, Sedona Community Center, Steps to Recovery Homes, and Wheel Fun, along with Arizona State Parks and Trails.
Future Volunteer Expo events will be assessed based on the outcomes of this initial gathering, Graf indicated. “We’re delighted to have 37 local organizations onboard and a waitlist of others that we aim to accommodate,” she added.
VSVV currently promotes the volunteer needs of 49 organizations across Sedona and the Verde Valley, expanding from 26 organizations since last September. “We are excited about our growth and our commitment to community connection and collaboration,” Graf stated.
This event aims to inspire new volunteer engagement, providing nonprofits a platform to showcase their impactful work and connect with locals eager to contribute. City staffer Amy Wright emphasized the opportunity for meaningful connections.
Since the last event in January, Graf reported steady growth in participation. VSVV continues to develop as a self-funded organization while awaiting confirmation of its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. “This event allows people to explore various organizations and find where their passions align, making volunteering fulfilling and beneficial for the community,” Graf said.
