Man shot to death in south Phoenix, suspect arrested


PHOENIX — A shooting incident in south Phoenix on Monday afternoon has left one man dead. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Baseline Road.

Upon arrival, Phoenix police officers discovered a 38-year-old man, identified as Orlando Archuletta, with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Archuletta succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

According to police reports, Archuletta was pushing a shopping cart when he was shot by a suspect. The shooter fled the scene, hiding behind a nearby business. Authorities later apprehended the suspect, 48-year-old Antonio Lopez Jr., who was found concealed behind a dumpster.

The investigation into the incident remains active as officers continue to gather evidence and details surrounding the shooting.
