Suspect Arrested Following Tense Barricade Standoff in West Valley Neighborhood

PEORIA, Ariz. — A barricade situation unfolded Tuesday in a neighborhood near Happy Valley and Dysart roads, resulting in the capture of a suspect by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Authorities responded to initial reports of gunfire in a residential area. Upon arriving, deputies engaged with the suspect, who briefly communicated before retreating indoors.
As the situation escalated, a SWAT team was deployed. Witnesses reported shots fired from a window, while the suspect remained inside and refused to surrender. Eventually, the individual exited the residence, prompting the use of a police K-9 unit.
MCSO confirmed the suspect is now in custody and is being treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. Sky12 footage captured the scene, showcasing multiple MCSO vehicles, including an armored truck.
