Phoenix’s Spring Kickoff: Triple-Digit Temperatures Expected in the First Week!

100 degrees already? Phoenix could see triple-digit temps in the first week of spring.

Springtime in the Valley of the Sun is set to bring extraordinary heat, with temperatures expected to climb into the triple digits this week. The National Weather Service warns that Phoenix could see record-breaking heat on Monday and Tuesday.

According to 12News meteorologist Chris Dunn, typical late March temperatures hover in the low 80s. “This week, we’re forecasting 95 to 99 degrees—a significant leap from the usual norms,” he said.

This unusual warmth stems from a powerful high-pressure system situated over the southwestern United States, creating an atypical spring heatwave. If Phoenix reaches 100°F on Tuesday, it will mark the earliest recorded instance of such high temperatures in March, beating the previous record set on March 26, 1988.

Experts urge residents and visitors to remain cautious during the peak heat hours. Dunn emphasized the deceptiveness of dry heat: “Dehydration can set in quickly, so it’s crucial to drink plenty of water.”

As the region braces for this early heat wave, it serves as a reminder for everyone to stay safe and prepared. The Valley of the Sun is known for its high temperatures, but such early-season extremes can take many by surprise.
