Reunite with lost pets

In late January, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control reported a significant rise in lost pets, with 600 animals entering their shelters since the start of 2023. This surge has prompted a partnership with Petco Love Lost, aimed at streamlining the process of reuniting families with their missing pets.

According to Petco Love Lost, a staggering one in three pets may go missing at some point in their lives. To combat this issue, the county has adopted this platform as its primary database for lost and found pets. This new initiative aims to enhance the chances of recovery for pets and alleviate the stress for families searching for their companions.

Other Maricopa County organizations, including the Arizona Humane Society and the Arizona Animal Welfare League, have joined the effort, utilizing Petco Love Lost as their reporting database. Impressively, 96 percent of users recommend this tool, which is now employed by over 2,900 shelters nationwide, leading to more than 52,000 successful reunions across the country.

Residents of the Valley who are facing the distress of a lost pet can visit www.maricopa.gov/162/lost-found-pet to initiate the search for their beloved animals.
