A Palo Verde tree toppled last night at the Fry’s supermarket on John Wayne Parkway, damaging a parked Toyota RAV4 during the heavy rains that swept through the area.

Photos submitted by a local resident show significant damage to the vehicle, including a smashed mirror, scratches along the paint, and a dented roof. By Friday morning, the area around the car had been taped off, indicating the seriousness of the incident.

According to Fry’s staff, the owner of the damaged vehicle has not been identified, as it did not belong to any employees working at the store. While unfortunate for the car owner, the damage appears to be the most significant impact from the storm, suggesting that Maricopa fared relatively well with the adverse weather.

Forecasts indicate that residents may experience similar weather conditions tonight, with a 59% chance of rain and winds reaching speeds of 20 miles per hour.
