Success Unlocked: The Journey from Community College to University and Beyond

As Arizona high school students approach the end of the academic year in 2025, many face uncertainty about their futures. A significant number of juniors and seniors are grappling with decisions regarding higher education and career paths.
High school counselors play a crucial role in assisting university-bound students with applications and standardized tests. However, many remain unsure about their next steps, which can lead to anxiety about the future.
Nicole Costales, director of advising at Central Arizona College (CAC), emphasizes the importance of exploration for undecided students. “Starting at Central Arizona College is a great way to explore your interests and set goals,” she stated. CAC offers personalized advising and resources to facilitate smooth transitions to universities like ASU, NAU, UofA, or other institutions both in and out of state.
Located in Pinal County, CAC is dedicated to serving local students by providing affordable tuition, open enrollment, and small class sizes. The college’s advisors and academic success coaches offer tailored support, meeting with students either in-person or virtually. Additionally, CAC provides ongoing resources such as Student Success Workshops and Transfer Tools, alongside programs in collaboration with university partners aimed at recruiting motivated students.
Costales noted, “Our goal is to help anyone interested in pursuing an education find the program that meets their needs.” She reassured students that the road to their desired careers may not be linear, encouraging them to persist and seek assistance as needed.
For those contemplating immediate entry into the workforce, a four-year university might not be the ideal choice. To support such students, CAC offers comprehensive workforce training programs that equip them with essential skills for in-demand careers. With nine areas of interest, including Culinary Arts, Hotel & Restaurant Management, and Automated Industrial Technology, CAC prepares students to be job-ready upon graduation.
Ultimately, Central Arizona College is committed to guiding students through their academic journeys. From current high school students to returning individuals and lifelong learners, CAC provides a variety of programs tailored to meet diverse educational needs.
