Historic photo: Not a one-stoplight town anymore

In 2004, the City of Maricopa collaborated with the Arizona Department of Transportation to enhance traffic safety at key intersections along John Wayne Parkway. The project focused on the intersections at Lakeview Drive/Cobblestone Farms Road and State Route 238/Smith-Enke Road. An InMaricopa file photo from that year illustrates a two-way stop at the Lakeview intersection during the signal installation phase.

Recently, the city made additional improvements to the Lakeview intersection. Last year, officials expanded the infrastructure by adding a second left turn lane into Rancho El Dorado, along with a free flow right turn lane onto northbound John Wayne Parkway. These upgrades aim to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow in the growing area.
