Edwards Explodes for 44 Points as Randle’s 20 Propel Timberwolves Past Suns 116-98

PHOENIX — In a commanding performance, Anthony Edwards scored 44 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves secured a 116-98 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. Julius Randle also made an impactful return, adding 20 points in his first game back after a month-long injury hiatus.
The Timberwolves gained momentum in the third quarter, with Edwards contributing 17 of his points to shift a two-point halftime deficit into an 83-72 lead heading into the final period. Once in front, Minnesota never looked back, marking only their third win in the last nine games.
For the Suns, the struggles continue, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 26 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Phoenix initially held the advantage for most of the first half, going into halftime with a slim 51-49 lead, courtesy of Randle’s 16 points and Devin Booker’s 12.
Despite a healthy roster, the Suns found it challenging to overcome their recent slump against a playoff-caliber opponent. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves view Randle’s return as a key factor in their playoff aspirations, as they eye the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.
Randle’s athleticism was on display when he dunked over rookie Ryan Dunn, whose mistake on the ensuing inbounds pass led to a turnover and easy points for Minnesota. The Timberwolves capitalized on 22 turnovers by the Suns, scoring 40 points off these mistakes.
Looking ahead, the Timberwolves are set to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, while the Suns will take on the Los Angeles Clippers in search of a much-needed turnaround.
