2 drivers hospitalized in gnarly Porter Road crash

Maricopa, AZ – A two-car collision caused significant disruption at the intersection of Smith-Enke Road and Porter Road on March 1, 2025. Emergency services responded promptly at 5:47 p.m., according to the Phoenix Regional Dispatch.

The crash left debris strewn across the intersection, with both vehicles sustaining extensive damage. A silver sedan was found incapacitated in the intersection, exhibiting a crumpled hood and severe front-end damage. Meanwhile, a blue sedan, located on the southwest corner, had deployed airbags and was also heavily damaged.

According to Maricopa Police Department (MPD) spokesperson Monica Williams, both drivers were transported to Chandler Regional Hospital with minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle at the time of the incident. Family members reported that one driver may have suffered a concussion, while the other sustained a broken ankle.

In response to the collision, officers redirected eastbound traffic on Smith-Enke south onto Porter. Traffic was also temporarily halted in the westbound lane as crews worked to clear the silver sedan from the roadway.

This incident highlights the importance of road safety and attentiveness while driving, especially at busy intersections.
