Circle K Shooting: Officer Shot Multiple Times Before Suspect is Killed and Run Over

Pinal County officials released body camera footage related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred on February 28, 2025, at a Circle K gas station.
The incident unfolded shortly before 3:00 p.m. when officers from the Maricopa Police Department located 28-year-old Keith Prock at the Circle K on Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway. Prock had multiple outstanding warrants, including one stemming from a fentanyl-related arrest in 2024.
Footage from the body cameras reveals that Prock fled from authorities, brandishing a handgun and firing several shots at an officer pursuing him. In response, a second officer fired multiple rounds at Prock as he exited the gas station.
Additionally, a detective in an unmarked vehicle reportedly discharged his weapon at Prock from the passenger seat. Prock was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, with investigators noting his extensive history of violent crimes and gang affiliations.
The Maricopa Police officer who was injured during the encounter is currently in stable condition at a local hospital. While this officer is known within the community, their identity has not been disclosed.
As standard procedure dictates, one Maricopa officer and two detectives are on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues. Pinal County clarified that this measure does not imply wrongdoing.
Maricopa Police Chief Mark Goodman addressed the incident, emphasizing the daily risks faced by officers. “This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers face every day to keep our community safe,” he stated. He expressed gratitude for the support received from residents and fellow law enforcement across Pinal County, reaffirming the department’s commitment to public safety.
