Tragic East Valley Shooting Claims Woman’s Life; I-10 Westbound Closed During Investigation
TEMPE, Ariz. — A tragic shooting incident has claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman in the East Valley. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the case, which began at the Main Event entertainment venue on Warner Road shortly after 1:30 a.m.
According to preliminary reports from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), a fight broke out at Main Event, prompting police involvement. The altercation escalated, moving onto Interstate 10 between Warner and Elliot roads before concluding at a nearby Cobblestone Carwash.
During the chaos, both the victim and the SUV she was traveling in were struck by gunfire. Specifics regarding the location of the shooting are still being determined by investigators.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the westbound lanes of I-10 are closed near the scene. The Department of Transportation has advised drivers to exit the highway at Warner Road due to significant delays expected as morning traffic increases.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim. Moreover, there is currently no information about a suspect involved in the incident.
