Woman hospitalized in 2-car crash near Walmart

Maricopa police and fire departments responded to a two-car collision on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway at Porter Road on the afternoon of January 21, 2025. The accident occurred around 2:54 p.m., as reported by the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center.

One of the vehicles involved, a black Hyundai Sonata, suffered significant damage to its rear driver’s side and became immobilized at the intersection, obstructing a southbound lane on Porter Road. Meanwhile, a silver GMC Terrain was situated just east of the intersection, secured by police presence.

Traffic in both directions experienced delays, particularly eastbound, which was congested until the scene was cleared at approximately 3:30 p.m.

According to MPD spokesperson Monica Williams, “One person was transported with what appeared to be minor injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.” Medics were observed loading the driver of the Sonata onto a stretcher around 3:15 p.m.
