County Invites Feedback on Visionary ‘Pima Prospers’ Decade-Long Land Use Blueprint

Pima County is inviting public input on a new 10-year land use plan that addresses crucial areas such as housing, water, energy, and climate.
The initiative, known as Pima Prospers, is managed by the county’s Development Services Department. This draft update is necessary under Arizona law, which mandates a review of comprehensive land use plans every decade. The last iteration received approval from the Board of Supervisors in 2015.
According to a press release from county officials, the updated plan aims to achieve four primary objectives: boosting housing development and accessibility, evaluating water resources, enhancing renewable energy production, and addressing climate change impacts.
Public comments can be submitted online regarding the initial chapters of the plan, which discuss infrastructure, environment, and economic strategies, among other topics. Although no specific deadline for comments has been established, community engagement is encouraged.
