Unseasonably Cool Weekend Temperatures Set to Drop

Lower weekend temperatures

PHOENIX — After experiencing record-breaking temperatures on Friday, the weather across Arizona has begun to cool down. Saturday is expected to see lower desert highs in the lower 70s, while high-country areas will range between the 40s and 50s. For instance, Flagstaff will struggle to reach a high of 50 degrees under partly sunny conditions.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Navajo Nation and White Mountains, where southwest gusts could reach up to 45 mph.

In the coming days, valley highs are projected to remain around the lower 70s through Tuesday. A new weather system moving in from the north will bring high desert snow, scattered showers, and a drop in temperatures. Although valley residents may see some rain, the eastern Arizona deserts are expected to experience the heaviest precipitation, particularly on Wednesday. The higher elevations of the White Mountains could witness snow accumulations between 6 to 12 inches through Thursday.

Following this weather system, lower desert highs may fall into the upper 60s, with temperatures in the high country dipping into the 30s and 40s.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Arizona’s weather as the situation evolves.
