What Will You Take Along on Your Journey?

What do you take with you?

As the New Year unfolds, many reflect on their holiday travels and the unexpected challenges that can arise. Safe journeys are often taken for granted, but what if circumstances had turned dire during your trip? What if you found yourself stranded, be it at an airport, bus station, or even your own vehicle on a lonely road?

Recent experiences emphasize the importance of preparation. I took a trip to Show Low, Arizona, where I recently acquired land. Alongside a like-minded friend, we set out not only to explore but to navigate through off-road terrain. We also brought along an all-terrain vehicle to venture deeper into the wilderness around my property.

We encountered both planned stops and uncharted paths. Having the right gear significantly boosted our confidence. Before embarking, I ensured my go-bag was packed with essential survival items, including extra water, long-term food supplies, and emergency medical provisions. A two-way radio proved invaluable in maintaining communication.

Traveling outside populated areas necessitates carrying more than just the basics. While it may not be feasible for everyone to load their vehicles with supplies, having essentials like water, food, and shelter is critical. Even if your travels seem routine, the unpredictable nature of life demands vigilance.

For individuals who carry firearms for self-defense, ongoing training is paramount. Regular practice in realistic scenarios is crucial for effective response during an incident. Having the right equipment is vital, but skills and knowledge make the difference between safety and danger.

Consider your most recent adventure. Were you adequately equipped? Reflecting on such experiences can help you prepare better for future journeys.

NEVER STOP TRAINING!
