Minor cited for DUI, released after crashing into tree in Cobblestone Farms

Maricopa police apprehended a juvenile in connection with a car crash that occurred early December 29, 2024. The incident took place around 3:10 a.m. at the intersection of Celtic Avenue and High Desert Trail.

Authorities suspect that the young driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. Witnesses reported seeing the car collide with a tree, prompting an immediate police response.

Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and took the minor into custody. “The driver was cited and released,” stated Monica Williams, a spokesperson for the Maricopa Police Department, during a press briefing.

This single-vehicle collision initiated a DUI investigation; however, no injuries were reported. The police did not disclose the identity of the juvenile due to privacy laws.

The damaged vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. Further details regarding any charges may be released as the investigation continues.
